It also means a sleepless night or two. This book was no different. And in the past several years, the treatment of animals has become a hot one.
4.5 stars Leaving Time delivers a "what the heck just happened to me I stayed up until 2 AM finishing this book and my brain has been blown to bits" ending, typical of Jodi Picoult. In her latest novel, Picoult writes from the perspective of Jenna Metcalf, a thirteen-year-old who has spent all her life searching for her mother, Alice, an elephant researcher who disappeared years ago. It also means a sleepless night or two. In this book, she tells the story of the majestic elephants. As usual, Jodi Picoult likes to write books about current topics. I'm assuming you've read the blurb, so I won't repeat too much of it. It usually waits by my reading chair, because reading one of her books is a commitment, an important part of my time, and not to be taken lightly. So far so good. The story has potential: A 13 year-old’s search for the mother who vanished 10 years ago after a tragic incident at the family elephant sanctuary.

While it's interesting, it doesn't match the standard of Jodi Picoult's other publications, imo. I now have a soft spot for elephants.
