Joining forces with designer Alan Peckolick, the two merge studios to become Pushpin Lubalin Peckolick in 1982. Seymour Chwast was born in New York City and is a graduate of The Cooper Union, where he studied illustration and graphic design. The partnership only lasts a few years, and Pushpin’s client base continues expanding with work for larger corporate clients, including: American Express, Mobil Oil, Mohawk Paper, New York Times, and Seymour Incorporated.
Seymour Chwast, with his playful, expressive approach to type and layout, started a new wave of design based on revivalism and helped to formulate a graphic lexicon built from knowledge, appreciation and reapplication of past styles and forms.
Born in 1931, in New York City, Chwast attended Abraham Lincoln High School, before studying illustration and design at the Cooper Union.
Chwast's work is widely recognized on posters, in books for children and adults, magazines and advertisements.
